Just had FOUR, count 'em, FOUR of Mama's famous tamales. Did the Valley of Oaxaca chicken and black mole wrapped in a banana leaf. Wet and thick and spicy delicious. The Acapulco Pork w/green sauce. Tasty pork, sweet & spicy tomatillo salsa w/some sour cream, mmm. The Acapulco Beef w/ adobo sauce. Perfect amount of masa, moist and tender meat, perfectly spicy w/a smoky adobo thing happening. And, did the Peru(vegetarian), with spinach, mushrooms, garlic, onions and some sliced red pepers. The vegtables were fresh and flavorful, w/just enough masa to hold it together. I could eat four more. I took it to go and didn't get the aguas frescas...I'm kicking myself now. As most chowhounders know, Mama's is a non-profit and they need all the support they can get. With tamals as good as theirs, it's a win/win situation.
