Mama Thai (Lombard)

The Lombard area is starting to reveal some decent places... its not all Portillo's, Jimmy John's & national chain crap.

Mama Thai is on Roosevelt... had lunch there yesterday... for $6.95 I was served an ungodly amount of food including:

> Spring Roll (6 squares)... decent to good (can also choose Egg Roll or Dumplings)
> Tam Khai (Chicken & Mushrooms in slightly spicy Lemon Grass - Galanga broth) decent to good.
> Red Curry with Chicken, Pineapples & Sweet Peppers and Jasmine Rice.... quite, quite good... (you can also choose from a dozen other entrees).

Dinner prices are substantially more expensive (but I have no idea about portion sizes), oh and the Thai Iced Coffee is quite good.

The food & service here is definitely Chowworthy... in fact, if I compare it to L.A's Thai offering.... Mama would be above average.

Now the best part.... there was a group of 6 Buddhist monks there... after having their vegetarian fare... the broke into a chant & prayer.... they were joined by about a dozen elderly Thai who obviously were there because of monks.... staff also stopped to pray at times. It was a very, very neat experience. According to the host its repeated once or twice a month according to their religious calendar... don't miss out.
