I am really loving the breakfasts at Malecon in the Bronx (haven't tried any of the ones in Manhattan, except once for a just-okay lunch). You start out picking a starch (guineo, plaintains, etc..) and then 1-3 add-ons, all of which are excellent! eggs, fried cheese, great spanish sausage, or thick salami slices. The meal holds me down most of the day. I get a fresh juice as a meager counterpoint to the gluttony. Malecon is on Broadway at 231st st., east side of the street. Street parking isn't that difficult.
For home cooks, there's a small place across the street that has very good prices on beef. Also the Stop 'n Shop in this area is a good (big) grocery store. And, there's an IHOP nearby for ny'ers with hidden pasts in the suburbs (guilty) who have an occasional stack yen.
