Malaysian Kopitiam in Centreville -- Report

Steve | Nov 7, 202107:07 AM

The same folks who ran MK in DC for many years have opened this outpost in Centreville. I was curious to see if the cooking has changed. The one in DC had a huge, ambitious menu with a mix of good and disappointing items.

See old report on MK in DC:

I was happy to see that my favorite, the spicy tuna laksa, is still on the menu. Despite being called spicy, it refers to the many different spices used, not the amount of chilies. The roti canai served with a small bowl of chicken curry was homey and good. The fluffiness of the roti begged to be dipped in the rich gravy with the chicken pieces.

We got two more dishes: a tofu skin wrap stuffed with pureed fish which was a very chewy, textural dish. Not much flavor, but fun to eat. We also got an okra and eggplant balancan dish, which was a nice stir-fry with just a hint of savoriness.

I'm glad I went, and with such a big menu to explore, I imagine there might be some discoveries to be made.
