Malasadas @ Portuguese Bakery, Santa Clara

Melanie Wong | Dec 25, 200212:07 AM     6

After lunch in Koreatown, we continued along El Camino Real to Portuguese Bakery in Mervyn’s Plaza to buy malasadas. The style here is heavy, eggy and very chewy, sprinkled with sugar – hit the spot when reheated in the toaster oven. Also picked up a glazed biscoito which was less interesting. The wall board listed a linguiça sandwich and soup of the festival – if we hadn’t just finished lunch we might have tried these too.

Note: Souza’s Bakery across the street no longer makes malasadas.
