last night I happened to be driving down montrose, So i went looking for the potato and cactus gordita annieb had mentioned in an earlier post at taqueria el gallo to take home to the veggie in the house. I remembered that annieb had noted that there were 2 gallos and only one was good. Well it turns out there must be 3 gallos (the other being gallo bravo) and I had the bad luck of hitting the 2 without gorditas.

However, kitty corner to one of these gorditaless gallos was malabar catering & carry out. (I think RST may have mentioned this place?)I stopped in to check it out. unfortunately they didn't really have any food on hand, being mostly a catering shop, but they did indicate that over the weekend (when they are there from 6 am to 9 pm getting food ready for banquets) they do carry out of most everyhting on the menu. One of those round black carry out containers goes for about 5 bucks. Of course they said you could call in and they'd have anything on the menu ready for you. Besides "Traditional Kerala Dishes" they also do north indian and also "Bombay Chinese"

Here's the entirtey of the "Traditional Kerala Dishes" section:

Traditional Kerala Dishes

Cutlets: Beef/Chicken/Fish
Malabar Chili Chicken

Malabar Paratha/Puri
Curry: Mutton/Chicken/Duck

FYI - language is NOT a problem. Like many south Indians the folks there are fluent english speakers and are really pretty nice. More info about some of these dishes at the attached link
