Making low fat Dim Sum - is it possible?

After spending an hour in my local Chinese supermarket yesterday reading the backs of the packets of dim sum I usually enjoy, I was quite alarmed to find that the use of lard is ubiquitous in most dumpling fillings. I'm now determined to start making my own dim sum. I have heard that this is fairly straight forward. Do any other hounds make their own dim sum dumplings and if so, is there a way to make them less fattening and taste equally as good?
