This is the one off Soldiers Field Road a bit near Watertown.
Happened to do some grocery shopping at Shaws and haven't been there for ages. The other strip mall stores apparently closed and they grabbed the lot to the right and are now building something massive.
Anyways, Maki Maki is next to the Petco. It's a good alternative to Minado (in Framingham so easier for Boston residents while still having easy parking) for stuff your face sushi and asian food. I'm surprised it wasn't more busy today (it's been open for 2-3 months). Cost is a bit higher than Minado for lunch though...$21.75.
For the extra cost, you get a bigger selection of seafood at lunch, both on the hot side and cold side. Layout really is surprisingly similar to Minado.
There's a larger variety of maki rolls than Minado, though the rice was a bit too packed. I ran out of space before trying everything once and that hardly every happens (did 4 plates of stuff). I thought most tasted better than Minado, but the sushi on top of rice was sliced somewhat thin. There was some salmon sashimi that was probably 1/2" thick though. And there was some interesting sashimi in flavored sauce in bowls (no clue what they call this). On the hot food side, there were more seafood dishes than Minado, and more chinese dishes I think.
I forgot to bring my camera and cell phone or there'd be pictures :-P
I remember why I don't do buffets much...only had a light snack for dinner because I'm still not hungry :-(
