Maison du Pain -- new bakery in Mid-City

jnovgirl | Sep 23, 200501:34 PM

I can't tell you how happy I was to hear that a bakery was opening just blocks from my house -- after all, it's hard to find a good baguette without getting stuck in traffic and dealing with parking headaches. So this morning I finally got over there to try it out. It definitely looks newly-opened, and they didn't really have much selection yet, but for quality, I'm willing to be patient.

Sadly they informed me I was still about 15 minutes early for bread, but I did pick up some samples of the pastries they had -- croissants, cinnamon rolls, and pain au chocolat. So far I've only tried the pain au chocolat, and it was really really good -- flaky and buttery and gooey with chocolate. The cinnamon roll has also gotten a thumbs-up from a co-worker. But the real test for me will be the baguettes -- so I will be back to try again.
