Maison, formerly Brasserie Centrale

Greetings...It's my first post here, but I have to vent!

Not sure how long this place has been Maison (53rd and 7th), but it has some problems. I made a reservation for 7pm. When my fiance arrived, we were asked to wait 15 minutes to sit because the kitchen was too busy. We sat at the bar and bought ourselves drinks (not compted).

After being seated, we placed our orders, crab cakes, which they were out of. They offered 4 types of moules frites, of which my fiance ordered a dijon style. After 10 minutes, we were told that they were out of that kind and 2 others, so she ordered the last remaining. After another 10 minutes, the waiter came back to tell us that they were actually out of those too! Then she ordered 2 appetizers instead of an entree. Unfortunately, my steak didn't arrive for another 10 minutes.

All of the other tables around seemed to be having problems as well. They also had difficulty getting the right silverware out as well.

Pretty weak for a midtown restaurant. Granted, it was Valentine's Day, but this was so pathetic. It was actually kind of funny. Luckily, we left enough time to get to our show at Radio City after dinner, so all was not lost.

In the end, after much complaining, the manager took 25% off the bill, but this place doesn't seem like they are ready for prime time.

Happy dining.
