We're leaving NYC this Tuesday for a 3-week honeymoon/road trip. The plan is to get north of Boston as quickly as possible, then get off all highways for the rest of the time. Go wherever there's an interesting road, or interesting food. I realize this is pretty broad, but we'd love some local chowhound tips! Places worth going out of your way for, preferably of the less-expensive variety, and clean/cheap (relatively) places to stay... And places to avoid would be very much appreciated, too--we're looking for more off-the-beaten path stuff, so we'd rather stay away from towns that are overrun w/tourists this time of year. Thanks.
