Got an e mail from these guys re: their July Shrimp thang,
so got sucked in...
Had two great dishes, a Grilled Shrimp app. over arugula
with a sweet black current sauce worked amazingly well.
Their crab and shrimp Stuffed Trout (a favorite of mine from their Cajun incarnation, now visiting again) as an entree was more than fine, though a little light on the crab and shrimp, the stuffing was precisely that, a nice and delicately spiced bread stuffing, sides of cheese grits and mashed sweet and reg. potatos rounded things out,
(didn't try their sauted barbeque shrimp which sounded good as well) Just a good home made (if your home is in the bayou) mildly spicy dinner. (outstanding just out of oven biscuts & bannana muffins too!)
The thing I like best about Magnolia is that unlike King Todd
(or even Chris next door) - both talented guys- John after more than 10 years, is still in the kitchen, running the show and personally managing each dish produced, and the quallity and care seems to show thru,
I really admire that.
