Last Friday we had a meeting at Maestro to review plans for the dinner on Wednesday, February 18th at 7:00PM. 55 have now confirmed for the "blowout" dinner leaving us space for a total of five more people to join us. Several groups who had reserved for four will only be two while several more are uncertain of their plans and cannot commit yet. Thus the opportunity. This is an event where MAESTRO IS CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC: it is us ONLY!!!! This is one of the very few times in Maestro's two years of operation that they have ever done this. (I believe the James Beard dinner in November was the only other.) Maestro seats 93; by limiting this to 60 we ensure that everyone has a good seat close to the open exhibition kitchen. The table arrangement will be for six eight seaters and two round six seaters. Additionally, similar to the Laboratorio blowout, we can stand, drink wine and talk at the table where the food is assembled by Fabio during the dinner. This has never been done for a Maestro dinner! Fourteen courses/tastes for $125 prix fixe (including the incredible grappa risotto which is not on the regular menu and their Kobe beef signature dish) + wine (by the glass or bottle with a wine pairing that may be available depending on the number who want to do it) + tax + tip. After January 1st Maestro will start contacting those who reserve directly for credit card confirmation of $125 each. As part of this they will also ask if there is interest in a wine pairing. Our expectation is that there will be with at least six of the courses paired with different wines, probably for $70 or 75 per person for those who choose the pairing. Maestro's wine list does have a number of moderately priced bottles of wine in the $25 to 40 range with a number of wines available by the glass. Vincent, the sommelier, is also a James Beard honoree.
