Arriving about 10:00 p.m. next Thursday and staying at Madison and 61st. I'm looking for a place within walking distance for a casual, reasonably-priced (less than $50 per person) drink and a snack/light dinner. I'm meeting my best friend in the city for the weekend and we'd like to have a relaxing, fun place to chat and dine before turning in for the night.
I'm also looking for a lovely lunch near the MoMA (not inside the museum, please). A bit higher end is fine (less than $75 per person-w/o wine)--that will be the big meal of the day. I'm planning on going to Barney Greengrass either Sat. or Sun. I must have the nova, eggs and onions I've read so much about.
Are there any good, cheap eats (I've read about the Greek cart at Madison and 62nd) in the neighborhood that I cannot miss? I'm willing to walk ten blocks, and will cab greater distances. I'm looking for a great potato knish and a good, soft street vendor pretzel.
Thanks in advance for your help.
