Mac's steak house, Huntington; diner quality food for $$$

We recently returned to Mac's after having been underwhelmed when this place opened years ago. It was all show, nothing worthy coming out of the kitchen, then or now. The surroundings and the servers are just lovely. The kitchen, not on its game, still. I wonder how they've gotten away with such mediocre output at such prices so long?

Creamed spinach was just revolting, tasteless and gluey; we left it there and both simultaneously said "no!" when asked if we wanted to take it home. Only good thing I can say about the food is that my steak had a nice char and was cooked properly to order, medium rare. But it had nothing to suggest it was prime and it wasn't very good, it was pretty tasteless.

Bleah. Will never return for a meal; the money is what you'd expect to pay at a good steak house, no problem, but the food is just completely mediocre. If I got it in a diner, I'd make a note not to order it again, but I wouldn't feel so disappointed and hosed.
