Today we had a hankering for some good saba, and through mis-navigation of mine, wound up in Japantown at Kushi Tsuru - a throughly mediocre lunch that had little to even comment about (it's in the Japantown mall, next to Mifune, which should be MUCH better - don't ask how I led us there...)
Anyway, it got me to thinking - who has the BEST saba shioyaki around? I recall we had some very good saba down at Gombei in San Jose, but can't recall very many other notable fish places.
Any suggestions? We live in Marin but will travel to the East Bay, SF or SJ if it's worth it!
