MACELLERIA - great steak, horrible establishment

This restaurant has, unfortunately, some of the best steak I have ever eaten. I say unfortunately because in order to eat at this restaurant you will most definitely have horrible service. Why? Because the owners don't respect you as a customer. I was a server at this restaurant, and while it is customary to have the servers try the wines and sample at the very least the specials for the day, the owners forbade either. Therefore, I was left to make uneducated suggestions as to the wine list and any recommendations regarding the menu. In my course of being there, I was able to try only the iceburg wedge salad which was horribly drenched in oil and the ravioli which were only ok. I did get to try the steak, however, and it was amazing. Still, the fact that they understaff and overseat the weekend nights (160 covers with only 3 servers!!!) means that you will not get your wine on time, not get your food on time and not get the service you deserve. All in all, this restaurant leaves the customer feeling like cattle being herded up to go where? The Macelleria, of course.
