We went to Ma Dang Sui (actually its ma dang sei in korean according to my gf) and specifically went for bbq. I think the atmosphere is probably the best in ktown, its reasonably nice wooden interior. The panchan is good, they give you alot, they are all of pretty reasonable quality, they also give you that free egg thing in the little hot pot and a ten jang chigae. Service is pretty good as well.
Anyhow, on to what we ordered:
- cha dol baegi - this is thinly sliced sliced beef that you eat with a sesame oil that has salt and pepper in it, you wrap it in lettuce with marinated scallions or onions; it was very tasty
- kalbi - these are marinated short ribs (they have an unmarinated version as well), interesting that they don't serve them on the bone here (i actually like it on the bone), but the quality of the meat is noticeably better than other ktown restaurants. I just ate it straight with some rice. The meat was nice and tender and the marinade was great (not overally marinated like some places)
- soon do boo - this was surprisingly good, it wasn't amazing, but i just got it to round out the meal and i thought it would be mediocre, it turns out it was pretty decent
again another great meal at ma dang sui and it definitely still takes the crown as the best bbq in ktown and i think its got the competition beat by alot right now
