Lyric Yarmouthport...worth another look!

For those who haven't been to Lyric in some time (like me) it's time to give them another try! We went for dinner last weekend and came away totally pleased with the entire experience. It's no surprise that the building renovation is beautiful. (So beautiful it bankrupted the previous owner). Yes, the sleek modern interior is a bit incongruous with the antique charm of the exterior. Although somewhat stark and modern, the rooms are pleasant. We sat in the small skinny dining room which features a long banquette with cozy pillows to sit on one side. The menu was well rounded with good choices of apps, salads, and entrees. It's high end dining for sure but we came away feeling we got great value given the quality of the presentation, ingredients and preparation. I had the baked oysters ($17) which were sublime, baked with pancetta, leek and cream. My DW had the bib, candied walnut, blue cheese and pear salad ($8), sumptuous. My brother had a appetizer trio of baked oyster, fried artichoke hearts, and lamb turnovers ($17). For our entrees, two of us had the panko encrusted sole ($24), two large flaky filets pan sauteed perfectly, with creamy buttermilk whipped potato and a perfectly executed carrot and zucchini combo. Simple and satisfying. My DW had the Filet Mignon (special $32) with a nice scalloped potato stack and same vegetable as ours. They have a very nice wine list. The service was friendly, professional and efficient. The piano played jazz standards in the bar/music room and Ann, the owner, steps in and sings a few songs quite beautifully.

Speaking of the bar/music room, this is the biggest change. They now feature a special value menu, in those rooms only, with a few low cost apps and salad, and smaller portion entrees like shrimp and pasta, pasta bolognese, fish and chips,a burger, and steak tips all for $9-$12. Available only on Sun, Wed and Thursday. Also on Wed. they have a special deal for two called Wild Wednesday, where for only $32 for two, you get a 3 course dinner (with a shared app). Incredible value!!! And as ciclista reported, their Sunday Jazz Brunch has very reasonable yet interesting ala carte choices from $8-$13.

If you haven't been in a while, it's certainly worth another look. I've added a couple of pics below.
