活著雜怕塔 (Viva Zapata)

I was on 4th Ave a few weeks ago, and saw this restaurant without any sign above the door. It was as if it was incognito, but not really, because of the large windows the do not limit ones view, to the interior that is certainly a restaurant.

9474 4th Ave, Brooklyn, NY.
Take out call 718-768-3737

It is called Luz De Luna, or what the Chinese call 月光 (yueguang). To the English speaker, it is moonlight.

I told myself that the next time I am in the area for eating, I will go there.

I did.

They are slowly opening, so the absence of a sign. I found this out by going inside, and ordering a beer. I had Victoria. Yummy. I had several.

You will not guess what I ate.....Nachos.

They were quite good.

I had to forgo all other dishes due to the nature of my diet. I do not take to bleached items of flour, nor white rice.

That is unfortunate, because the menu is loaded with classics of the Mexican diet.

Also, taking to beer, leaves me only desiring snacks to munch on.

This again is so unfortunate for my poor tongue that was deprived Lengua Tacos, (small 1.50/ Reg. 2.50). Lengua is tongue (beef). they also have sausage , spicy pork, pollo and bistec....reg. pork.

I failed to ask the waitress, who speaks excellent English, given her Romanian origin, what the owner's or chef's specialty is.

With all of the Mexican places on 4th Ave, this place is nicely located near the 36 street station, and far out of the Park Slope sloping that affects Union and Prospect regions of 4th Ave.

Seafood: mexican shrimp; spicy styl. shrimp; shrimp Garly style (is that with beer or...); Breaded shrimp; all are 12.00

Chilaquiles; 10 dllar to 8 dollars (meat or reg)

Beer is 5. They have modello and other mexicans and maybe bud.

I did like the nachos. Very good. They were quite large for the regular, with plenty of cheese and beans, and done up not as individually laid out, they were bunched up and fresh from being in-house made.

They have a juke box with Mexican and Dominican etc. I ate my nachos and drank Victoria to the sounds of Alacranes Musical.

Bon Jovi just would have been inappropriate.
