had a great meal @ luz (on vanderbilt) last night, a new a pan-latin place.
great cocktails - i had a mojito as an aperitif and later a pisco sour ($6); also a nice spanish rose by the glass ($6 also). gosh, i was quite the lush, i suppose ...
we started with the tuna ceviche, which has coconut milk in it, and a citrus crab salad in jicama cups (3 pieces) w/ lemon oil. both very good, w/ the jicama cups being my favorite.
for main course I had the slow roast pork (comes w/ rice & peas and fried plantains), nicely herbed @ $9. my friend had half a peruvian chicken - $5. side are $4, she had rice and beans. we skipped dessert.
i like the place a lot based on last night's visit. service was a touch slow, but we were in no hurry (not sure if it was kitchen or waitstaff, think the former). i plan to return very soon, and very much recommend it.
