Lush Gelato @ Yoogle in Mountain View

ssfire | Aug 4, 201304:22 PM

Yoogle is a fro-yo place on Castro Street in Mountain View, right across the street from Gelato Classico. They started selling Lush Gelato from Berkeley a few months ago. I went by today to check it out. The flavors of Lush Gelato in the freezer case today include:

irish cream
irish coffee
ricotta lemon zest
Madagascar vanilla
oatmeal stout & chocolate chunks
coconut chip
salted stracciatella
earl grey tea
green tea
banana salt & caramel
dark chocolate
cardamom orange
mint chip
brown sugar rum
Mexican chocolate
rum raisin
peanut butter
blackberry cabernet sorbet
raspberry sorbet
lemon sorbet
strawberry sorbet
mango sorbet

2 scoops = $3.25
3 scoops = $4.50
4 scoops = $5.50
cake cone: add 25 cents
sugar cone: add 25 cents
waffle cone: add 50 cents

As you can see, Yoogle is stocking the "safe" flavors. No Cowgirl Creamery Fromage Blanc. No Redwood Hill Farm Chevre and Medjool Dates. No Olive Oil with Strawberry Jam and Black Pepper.

Anyway, they are generous with the size of their samples and don't mind if you go through a bunch before ordering. I sampled several flavors and went with the Madagascar vanilla and Mexican chocolate. The gelato is OK: there is nothing about the texture or flavors that really blew me away.

One downside: Yoogle has no espresso machine, so they can't make a proper affogato. Maybe next time I'll get a take-out shot of espresso from Red Rock down the street and bring it in.

In terms of ambiance, the place is a day-care center.
