Luscious Foods: Home of the $9 Egg Salad Sandwich

chowgrrl | Oct 3, 2005 04:03 PM

I have enjoyed the breakfast quiches at Luscious, so thought I would try something different. There was an egg salad with dill special listed on the outdoor sign that sounded good to me (no price listed). However, I was shocked when the woman behind the counter rang up the total: $8 for the sandwich, plus tax, bringing it close to $9. I was so stunned that all I could do was hand over my money and hope that it would be the best egg salad I have ever eaten. Although good, I can't say that ANY egg salad sandwich is worth this kind of money (egg is usually one of the cheaper filling options). It was not served with any sides, btw, just heaped into a whole wheat pita. As a decade-long resident of the neighborhood all I can say is: Is this what 5th Ave has come to??
