For all the Sunday afternoon family dinners enjoyed in cavernous Lundys, I was overjoyed to hear that the place had reopened. Now that I'm planning to visit NY for the first time since Lundys name was restored, I had hoped to take my wife and oldest son for a walking tour of the old neighborhood topped off with dinner there. After reading your posts, that doesn't seem such a good idea any more.
Can anybody suggest any of the restaurants in the Sheepshead Bay, Brighton Beach, Coney Island area that flourished in the 50s and early 60s that more or less do a good job of being what they were (sorry if this sounds like a plea for stodginess, but I'm in search of my past or at least an illusion of that past)?
Thanks for the help.
