A couple months ago I had a chance to grab a bite at the newish Lunchette in downtown Petaluma. Same ownership as the Pizza Politana team that contributed so much to feeding evacuees and first responders during the wildfires.

Lunchette offers grab-and-go salads and pizza al taglio as well as warm grain bowls for lunch, Monday through Friday, 10am to 3pm.

Provisions are sourced from local, sustainable farms.

I asked for my square of pizza to be warmed for eating on site at the communal table. This is the Broccoli Rabe pizza with prosciutto, broccoli rabe, tomato sauce, pickled Fresno chiles and a fine grating of cheese, $4.50. Just right for a light lunch.

The packaged salads in the self-serve case are clearly labeled with ingredients, price, and codes for gluten-free, vegan, vegetarian and/or dairy-free.

I grabbed one of the smoked trout salads to take home for dinner that night. The greens stayed remarkable perky even after several hours. Pickled raisins introduced a surprise bite of tartness. The buttermilk-herbed dressing was sumptuous though I would have liked a larger amount. Not inexpensive, but delicious nonetheless.
