Just went to Lunchbox - it's brand-new on the west side highway (actually west st.) b'twn leroy and morton. had brunch with 4 others, and it was amazing.
we started with a basket of homemade doughnut holes - 1/2 were chocolate covered, 1/2 were cinnamon. still warm, even!
I had a citrus salmon omlette with spinach and creme fraiche. The salmon was a bit on the salty side, but the citrus note was really nice, and the portion was perfect. It was served with a small green salad and a potato gallette-type thing. mmm..
my husband had croissant french toast with a squash puree on the side, and hand cut bacon. very thanksgiving-y. he loved it so much we teased him that he should lick his plate clean, since it was so bare...
one of our friends had a great looking lemon/ricotta waffle - we were told the waffles changed every week.
finally, we were too stuffed to order dessert, but we did linger over coffee, as the place is still too new to draw a crowd. after we turned down anything else, the waiter brought over a piece of bread pudding as a thank you (they were happy to have a table of 5!) and it was moist and dense, with notes of banana and clove. the best, though, was the rosemary-caramel dipping sauce.
the total bill for 5 was $80. I think they aren't doing dinner until sometime december, hours are 8am-4pm, if I remember, and it looked like there was a special weekend brunch menu.
