Lunch at Traxx - report

I had a really nice dinner here once, but my friend and I wanted to check it out for lunch.

We went really early (11:30 opening time), and were the first there. It was fortunate we made reservations because within 15 minutes, the place was packed inside and out.

The bread was fresh - two kinds, the whole grain and the white. We each ordered a different salad: my friend had the spicy thai grilled chicken salad, with noodles, peanuts, mango, onion, cilantro and a spicy dressing. I had a bite. It was full of flavor! She liked her order a lot. I had the Waldorf salad with smoked chicken, Pt. Reyes blue cheese, apples, baby frisee & spiced walnuts, and a green apple vinaigrette. I finished everything except for the greens - there was too much of it. It goes to show, however, that we really had full, entree salads which were both very refreshing and satisfying, but not too heavy for a hot Friday noon.

We ended the meal with a chocolate praline tart. It was admittedly a bit too rich, but heavenly as chocolate should be.

Service was great and not overbearing at all. Food was quick. Despite a busy and open kitchen, Traxx is a great, relaxing place to catch up with a friend, have a power lunch, or dine after (or before) a trip.

A bonus: Free valet parking. Such a commodity in LA. We should get more of this, like in LV. I once paid $14 to park for a half hour in downtown.
