Lunch at Telepan

Had an excellent lunch at Telepan, this restaurant seems to be off everyone's radar, but I have to say, I've enjoyed Bill Telepan's cuisine since he ran the Judson Grill and Telepan proved he's still in his game. The restaurant's decor is very soothing, really comfortable seating and tastefully decorated, the staff is very welcoming too.

Now, onto the food. They offer a 2 course lunch for $22 or 3 course for $28, we did the 2 course (watching my diet :) I started off with a frisee salad w/wild mushrooms and poached egg, delicious. My friend had a beet salad, roasted and pickled, also excellent with various types of beets. For entrees, I had the wild striped bass over farro w/cranberry beans, my fish was a bit undercooked, but very tasty. My friend has the gnocchi w/brussel sprouts/cauliflower and white beans, great combo and nice flavor explosion. Also, the warm bread they individually serve is excellent and perfect for scooping up all the great sauces.

The portions were not huge, so someone with a bigger appetite would probably like dessert. I liked the size as I didn't feel I was rolling back to work.

Highly recommend for a nice lunch off the beaten track!
