lunch at Tajine

Windy | Dec 28, 2005 02:35 PM

Had a charming lunch at Tajine yesterday. The highlight was the harira. I am generally not a bean eater, but it's been soup weather and this was a wonderful soup. We shared a bowl, although I wish we'd had two.

I enjoyed the chicken bastilla and lamb couscous quite a bit. The chunks of lamb were very tender, and butternut squash gave it a sweet flavor. I asked for harissa to spice it up a little.

As previously noted, service is warm and personal. Food is simple and mostly prepared to order.

I could drink glasses of mint tea all afternoon, and it was hard to go back to work. We didn't have room for dessert. $28 for two including tip.

Tajine is at Jones near Geary, open until 10 or 11 every night.
