Lunch near Penn Plaza (W. 34th Street)

Michelle | May 10, 2004 07:24 AM

I just got a job for the summer in 1 Penn Plaza (250 W. 34th street). Having never been to New York, I have no idea what to expect. How is that area in regards to lunch? Are there any take-aways nearby or small cafes? Sandwich places, etc? I tend to eat anything and everything, so I'd be willing to try anything in the area.

If I was to look up restaurants in that area (on the internet or in books), what is the area of NYC called? Also, how many blocks could I expect to be able to walk to, get a quick bite, and walk back in an hour? (IE - How large are the typical blocks, and how far does one usually walk to get lunch?)

Sorry for all the basic questions. Thanks in advance for the help
