I've had a tradition of lunch at holiday time at LO. It goes back about 20 years and the original group was about 8 guys. Retirement, relocation and time have reduced our group to 2.
Based on the crowd, I'd have to say, "what recesssion?" Bar and every table packed.
We had 1/2 dozen raw Cape oysters to start
Lobster bisque was vey good, but I'd do the JFK Lobster stew next time..much better dish.
Wienerschnitzel with a pasta on the side. 1 if the best versions I've had lately...not a great amount of competition. I think my last version was to break a personal cardinal rule and had it at Jacob Wirth; which I love for the beer and vibe..foof not so much.
Locke Ober is not known for cutting edge food, but everything was well prepared and the service is always polite and professional...1 of my favorite dining rooms in the city.
