Lunch in Downtown PORTLAND

Jill-O | Nov 30, 200106:50 PM

OK, so here I go, my first venture in posting about a meal on this board (to kind of make up for the whining I did yesterday...)

I work near the Lotus Card Room and Cafe so I have ventured there a couple of times for lunch.

The burger I had today was OK, kinda skimpy for the larger roll it was on, but OK. Last time it was a decent chicken parmigiana sandwich on special.

BUT both times I have gone, I have had their soup of the day. BOTH times, really, really good. And I am not a real 'soup person.' I rarely eat it except for NE Clam Chowder.

Today's soup WAS NE chowdah and it was good. Not too thick (but not thin and gray like it usually is in Connecticut) and with lots of nice chunks of potato and clam swimming in it. Very yummy.

Last time I had a cup of the cream of spinach soup. was really tasty. A tiny bit of nutmeg in the finish...perfect.

Neat old pictures of Portland on the walls...

Keep those suggestions downtown comin'!
