Lunch and dinner spots near the Hilton San Francisco - Union Square

AmityGuy | Aug 9, 200404:59 PM     2

I am headed to a conference at the Hilton San Francisco in/near Union Square this weekend. I have never been to San Francisco and am completely clueless of its geography, so please humor me in selecting a nice restaurant near the area (a walk or quick cab ride) for a few of my authors, etc. The meals will be expensed, but I really can't be over-the-top expensive. I was hoping to keep each person (including wine) to $50-$75. For lunch I was thinking somewhere in the area of $20 per person.

I would prefer Italian, French, or American, but any suggestions with great food and a more upscale (but not downright pretentious) setting would be appreciated.

Many thanks for the tips. If the suggestions are discussed more in length down below, just let me know.

Thanks again!
