It's been years since I've had a lunch date with my spouse. I haven't been around the DC food scene in years, so I don't know what's good these days. In the past, we've really enjoyed Rose's Luxury, Zaytinya, CityZen, Rasika. We tend to enjoy flavors/dishes that are unique or bold. Ruling out French, Sushi, Italian, unless it's some type of fusion or unique twist. Any suggestions come to mind? It's a lunch date. We don't drink. Can be cheap food or tasting menu, doesn't matter ($300 budget). I'm just overwhelmed with what DC has to offer.
Less expensive, although you could easily spend your money at Yellow cafe. Cranes another option.
Your request is very wide open, with lunch being the only serious limitation as lots of places don't serve lunch.
Some of my favorites are :
Miso ramen at Daikaya
Carne Deshilada at El Rinconcito Salvadoran
Ethiopian food at Habesha Market
tomato choka and eggplant choka at Cane, trini food on H St, NE
Mbuzi kaanga and bhajia at Swahili Village, Kenyan
