Despite the large number of taxis and limos parked outside, Dama near the Pentagon turns out to be no better than average for Ethiopian - maybe not as good as Lalibela nearby.
The only dish that seemed to be made that day was lamb mixed into a mess of greens. Everything else came out drab and undistinguished.
There is also a market/bakery next door. Italian style cakes and pastries. I had the teff cake. Teff is what they make injera from in Ethiopia. The cake was competent and surprinsingly moist. Teff added some flavor. But nothing Chow worthy. Might be worth a flyer for the Tiramisu cake (23$ for an 8" cake). The place also serves breakfast, and it sounds tempting enough, so I might try that real soon.
