In a burst of insanity, I invited friends to our family lunar New Year's eve feast this Saturday. Not just one friend but the neighbors and two families adding up to 7 people in addition to our family of four. I have no idea what came over me. Perhaps it was the thyme liquor.....
But now I need a more impressive menu than originally planned. Here is what I have so far [in no particular order]:
jaotsi///boiled dumplings with pork and cabbage;
whole steamed fish;
white cooked chicken--whole and by whole, yes, this year we will keep the feet and the head on the chicken;
stirfried lettuce with shitake mushrooms;
What else should I make? Any lucky dishes I'm missing? [I could use some luck this year preferably in the form of hefty lottery winnings as my job right now STINKS].
And should I be doing plain rice or some kind of fried rice or both?
All ideas are welcome and if you have recipes, better yet!
