The LudoTruck unveiled new menu items today in Burbank, and of course, I had to go because I've no luck getting into LudoBites. There was a crowd and a French TV camera crew to document it all. The new menu items are: popcorn shrimp, shrimp po' boy, black truffle chicken burger, ranch dressing, and special sauce. Chef Ludo was on the truck to manage the first service of these items, and he seemed to be having a great time.
My friend and I split the following:
Shrimp Po' Boy - popcorn shrimp, shredded lettuce, tomato, pickles, mayo, special sauce, BreadBar toasted baguette. It was perfect! The shrimp were perfectly cooked...crispy on the outside, opaque on the inside, without being drenched in oil. The mayo and special sauce (house made Thousand Island with mayo, ketchup, black pepper, and Worchester sauce) provided a nice tang and moisture to the sandwich. The vege kept it fresh...and the bread has to be the finest baguette I've had in a long time!
Black Truffle Chicken Burger - truffle cheese, truffle mayo, lettuce, crispy chicken skin, fresh ground chicken patty, and BreadBar brioche bun. While I love truffles, the truffle flavor didn't hit me as much as I thought it would. The truffle mayo delivered, but not so much with the cheese. The crispy chicken skin was amazing as was the brioche bun. The chicken party was perfectly seasoned, but it didn't wow me like I was hoping it would.
Fries and special sauce - you can't visit this truck without the fries...they really are perfect!
