After happy hour at Kachka https://www.chowhound.com/post/kachka... , we headed back to our vacation rental to pick up our bags and pack out our food purchases. Our host had graciously extended a late check out to us as no new guest was arriving that day.

We loved this net zero tiny house. I want to provide some food-centric info beyond what's in the AirBnB description or my review posted on that site. In late August, the backyard garden still offered up cherry tomatoes, fresh herbs, grapes, Italian prunes, and what we thought might be elderberries. The blackberries, raspberries and strawberries had already finished up, but in a non-drought year, might still be producing in late summer.

The kitchen had a full-size refrigerator-freezer stocked with some basic condiments. It was a pleasure to use all new appliances. There were plenty of dishes and flatware for our six-person dinner party. I especially appreciated the large serving trays and bowls for serving family style. We had every kind of knife and cooking utensil we needed though I was wishing I had brought my own corkscrew to use instead of the winged style here.

We made use of the gas grill outside and the two picnic tables to enjoy a Portlandia summer evening. During the day, these seats were a nice perch for watching the hummingbirds in the bird bath.

Located two blocks from the restaurant row on Williams, Lyft rides would arrive in a flash. I learned to be ready to leave before requesting a car, as they all arrived in two minutes or less and had no trouble finding us. The central location was convenient for ride-sharing and being close-in to most anywhere we wanted to visit was an inexpensive fare. And leaving at 6:15pm on a Monday for the airport, we were surprised by the lack of traffic congestion on our route.
