Lucques has updated their current menu - not reflected as of yet on the web though

I was really looking forward to some of the web offerings on Saturday, but still found plenty to enjoy. Starters were their small regular salad and a bean based vegetarian soup so rich its hard to believe it not beef or veal stock – this is flat out one of the best soups I have ever had, and I am a total soup junkie – I won’t begin to describe it or the process in making it, the waiter touched on it and it was clearly very complex in the number of steps to concoct it – do not miss this soup. Main were one of the appetizers, delicate roast squab over some noodles, veggies and a rich reduction and their signature dish, short ribs. The service and meals were absolute perfection. I really like the wine list @ lucques, lots to choose from, esp pinots and rhones, some as low as $ 26/btl. The single desert was super rich chocolate thing with banana ice cream, another imo do not miss. Sat in one of the back banquets looking out into the patio – if one does an early bird @ 6:30 you will have the place to yourself for an hour, its just heaven. I must say that every time I visit Lucques I am reminded of how many fabulous meals I have had in the past and always look forward to my return. For me I get hits of when I used to eat at the original spago on sunset or terrail’s ma maison just a short distance away – for me, this is dining at its best in LA – I also consider it a good value comp to many other places. K
