Lucille's Smokehouse review - Long Beach

It's been awhile since I've seen a review on Lucille's, and I finally got the chance to visit one of their locations after a business meeting today.

Menu looked really good and appetizing. I've been on a beef rib kick lately, but passed on it here when their lunch combo would only include one beef rib. So I chose the combo of 3 St. Louis pork ribs and BBQ beef tri-tip, along with sides of shoestring fries.

The 3 St. Louis ribs were quite tasty, with plenty of tender meat on them. The beef tri-tips were absolutely top notch, very tender. I will definitely get the tri-tips again.

I wish there were more locations closer to central OC. The only Lucille's in OC is in Brea, which is about as northern OC as it can be located.

One of my co-workers recently talked to a guy who was wearing a Lucille's shirt, and he said there will be one opening at the old Tustin Marine Air Base location, where a new shopping center mall is supposed to be opening sometime in the near future.

Some other reviewers have knocked Lucille's in the past. I've become a fan of their food, but their pricing is on the mid-range to high-range of pricing for ribs. The combos were decent values at $12.50, but the dinner portion half-rack of beef ribs with sides was $18.95, while the full-rack was $21.95.

When the urge for Q strikes again (probably in a couple of weeks :-) ), I'll consider plunking down the money to try out their half-rack or full-rack of beef ribs on the next visit.
