LOX in San Diego

hungrylawyer | Feb 14, 200609:16 PM     20

A few weeks ago, there were some posts about bagels that rightfully bemoaned the sorry state of that staple, not just in our town but also on the whole West Coast. To me, however, the true tragedy is the lack of edible lox. This was brought home when my brother sent me a gift box from Zabar's in NYC. Holy OMG !! I have searched the local delis, fish markets and grocery stores (including Whole Foods) all to no avail. The best I have been able to find is Elijah's Deli in LJ Village, which is merely inoffensive. (Their whitefish salad is B to B+). Can anyone help me out here?

Please, no referrals to DZ. That place is nasty.
