We recently went to have dinner at LouLou's in Fort Greene -- I had one of my worst meals ever! We started with room temperature (and it was a warm night) limp oysters with a harsh mignonette, and undercooked, hard asparagus with what looked and tasted like a slice of processed cheese thrown on it. My husband had almost raw skate in a phyllo wrapping, inside of which were more hard asparagus and hard green beans (!) The grilled whole fish that I asked to be deboned came back hacked up as if with a machete with bones sticking out everywhere, served with an ENORMOUS pile of salty fries and an inedible salad with a sugary dressing. Our companions had a tasteless and practically raw orechiette dish and a steak made of rubber, tasting like hot dogs. My glass of "viognier" tasted like a cheap plonk, and no one else's wine was any better. All was served up by a bored waitress who was too cool to be attentive and then presented us with the $200+ bill--What's up, Brooklyn??
