There was a review in last week’s Contra Costa Times. Has anyone tried it? I’m trying to get familiar with East Bay eats.

It seems to be a reinvention of Le Salamandre, same location, same owner, new chef, Michael Miller, who owned a place in San Jose called Restaurant Umunhum and worked with Wolfgang Puck.

Small plates. The Bouillabaisse with Lobster sounded good. I don’t eat veal, but this seems to be a specialty for any veal fans. Supposedly all the braised meats are good.

I’m not clear from the review, but I think they have white asparagus in a blood orange sauce.

CC Times reviewer, Nicholas Boer, writes “Just 7 weeks old, Louka is already as sophisticated as dining gets in the East Bay.”

He also says to skip the duck pot pie with chorizo. Lots of delicious sounding dishes and the prices look reasonable. Not sure how small those small plates are. Must have free registration to access the article. CC Times articles are archived pretty quickly, after which time you will have to pay for them.
