I strolled up to 6th and Market to meet a friend and was shocked to see that in just one weeks time something that i clearly never noticed before became a Louisiana Fried chicken! i went in to grab a to go menu and the place was pretty small and definitely had a bunch of people in it. and the chicken looked good. but the fries looked gross and soggy, but who cares, when their is fried chicken!
i was unfortunately to full to buy a piece to try, since i had just had a fantastically delicious and filling lunch at Little Delhi (right behind the carls jr. on Ellis) The butter chicken there was excellent, sweet and hot and the sauce was just fantastic. My friend who is moving back to London, said that this is very "britianized" indian and one of the few places in sf that he has seen "butter chicken" which he says is a standard staple in London. (can't say if this is true or not, but can say it is DAMN good)
Papadam comes complimentary with the meal and the aloo gobi was delicious and spicy and delicious. all the food is definitely big on the sauce factor. Again, my friend told me that this creamy spicy overload is pretty standard in the UK and definitely has a distinct flavor that is not the norm elsewhere.
Anywhoo, 2 entrees, rice, and 2 naans came to 24 dollars with a 20% tip. I am stuffed and ready for a nap and can safely say i will be going back for that butter chicken.
