Loud music in restaurants

Alan Freed | Nov 8, 200008:26 AM

On a recent posting about a restaurant called "Bamboleo" in St. Paul, the correspondent lodged the complaint that "there's nothing wrong with the ambience except they need louder music...."

Louder music?!?! Surely I'm not alone in decrying the modern trend of increasing volume levels in all public venues, and, most annoyingly, in restaurants. I like to converse with my tablemates, something made awfully difficult when one is bombarded with music, no matter what the genre.

Give me a nice, quiet dinner, or, at least, don't crank up the volume on the music to create "ambience." The sound of people's voices is ambience enough for me.
