Restaurants & Bars 10

Lotus of Siam

I'm re-posting here a recent note from the Washington, DC Board. A friend in DC noticed the large number of recent negative posts regarding LOS, and was wondering whether it's gone downhill. He's never been to LV, and is re-thinking his desire to plan a trip around LOS. Here was my reply:

Well, after going to LV every two or three months for a year and a half, I now haven't been since May, so I have no recent LOS experience. But I find myself craving it of late. Prior to May, I dragged perhaps 10 people there all told -- about half thought it was amazing, and about half were underwhelmed (those who were underwhelmed tended to think it was fine, but nothing special.

But..although you should perhaps not go to LV JUST for LOS, you SHOULD go for an eating trip. That city has many, many amazing restaurants, at all ends of the price spectrum. I haven't even made a dent in all the places I'd like to try there (as just one example, I've been to three Nobus, D.B. has been to 5 or 6, and we both agree that the Vegas outpost is our favorite).

Plus, no other city has Drais at 4:00 a.m. on a Thursday night/Friday morning. I know how much you're into that sort of thing.

I'll post this on the Southwest Board as well.
