Has anyone been there recently? Years ago this place offered a "Chinese Menu" -- the only one I knew of at the time. This contained a number of great dishes not available to the American crowd. I had to fight with the staff to get it (though it was translated), and again to actually order from it, but at the time I was more patient with such interaction and actually enjoyed it. Am visiting friends in that area soon and thought we might go there as I still generally avoid the "American-Chinese" food.
I do recall specifically the red-cooked pork leg, in a sweet dark sauce and covered with a layer of meltingly soft fat. It was the first time I'd had that and I loved it. The waiter stood shyly by watching me eat it as he didn't believe any Westerner would. Thereafter it was much easier for me to convince them of my determination to get the real thing.
