Loteria -- Disappointing!

ChefLisa | Aug 24, 200412:58 AM

Met a friend for dinner at Farmers Market and I insisted we try Loteria since reading such good things about it on the board. However, have to say it was very disappointing. I had a cochinita pibil soft taco and an albondigas sope. Both were too salty, had an unusual flavoring I couldn't place (not as good as Dommy's homemade pibil!) and both were served practically cold. The only redeeming thing was the watermelon agua fresca. Then we went to Gill's for ice cream and another disappointment! I had one scoop of butter pecan and it was mediocre, not rich and creamy and cost $3. My friend had a small soft serve chocolate dipped cone and it was $4! Where's a DQ when you need it?

The only thing that rescued the evening was scoring some good stuff at Cost Plus and finding the Bodum coffee press I wanted at Starbucks was on sale for $19.99.

Next time, I'm going to try the crepe place (which looked good) or my old standby Kokomo.
