Los Pollitos Dos, redux

For years I had heard neighbors rave about Los Pollitos (of course in Park Slop, where Tutta Pasta reigns supreme, that's not always a good sign--but I digress), so I finally tried it about two weeks ago(the Fifth Ave. location; where is LP Uno, anyway?) . It was fantastic! Tamales like I used to get in Texas and a sublime sopes.
We couldn't wait to go back and did so Saturday only to find our "find," with its solicitous service and full flavored comida, had been replaced by an evil twin. The appetizer came out with the entrees, despite my reminder to the waiter when it didn't materialize in the first 20 minutes. Then my wife's sopes was utterly bereft of taste--and more or less lacking any toppings for that matter. The manager knew we were unhappy, but didn't take the appetizer off the bill or try to make ammends of any sort.
So my question is: ?Which Los Pollitos have all of you Chowhounds experienced?
I may go back if it appears my most recent visit, and not my first, was the aberration.
