Have had more than a dozen visits to Los Compadres over the past couple of months.
Every time except the last Ive had one of their super tortas (sandwiches). There are a few favorites I have the La Comadre and La Monarca.
The La Comadre consists of pork leg, chorizo, ham and caribe cheese w/lettuce tomato, small dab of refried beans on the low flat Mexican roll.
The La Monarca consists of the items on the La Comadre with the addition of turkey and carnitas.
Both tortas are lifted to another level with the addition of the green salsa brought with the tortas.
My wife likes the La Gringa which is ham and egg on the roll.
We also like either the tamarind or cantaloupe juice to go with our meal.
We both decided to try something new at Los Compadres and were sorely disappointed. We both chose the carne asada. IMO it is pretty tough to screw up carne asada but they did it. The reason was the cut of meat used. I have almost always had a skirt steak for carne asada but Los Compadres used thin cuts of beef (1/8 thin) and it was cut from a sirloin like piece of meat. As a result one had this virtually flavorless overcooked pieces of meat. NOT GOOD AT ALL.
So at this point I can certainly recommend the tortas but certainly not the carne asada.
